Deanne Heron was born in Jamaica and came to live in Manchester, England in 1967. A counsellor/trainer and foster carer, she has published two volumes of poetry under the title Contemplation and two volumes of short humorous Pardner Money Stories, which she reads on local radio and at community events. Written in Standard English with Jamaican patois dialogue, Deanne’s stories take a whimsical look at the interactions of four generations of the extended Jamaican family in Britain. Deanne also presents an African/Caribbean news and music programme on local radio as well as Black History Month programmes and presentations in schools.
